BoneLight in Complex Networks
Today's network is not so simple even for
a small business or a branch office. Not only for the traditional
switch and router, but also includes the WAN file system optimizing
system, the firewall, the VPN access gateway and even proxy servers
are in the network. In a typical application diagram, a multi-tier
system with many remote users, the web servers, load balancers and
many other security or network devices act their own role in the
cloud. Well, any applications or software if want to be applied good
into such networks, must be well prepared for a complicated settings
or adaptive technology.
This is a challenge for BoneLight,
because BoneLight designs for communications in the network.
However, if BoneLight need to comply the network configuration and
it cannot rely on the software settings. Because when you send a
trace file to others, you may set a lot of settings locally in your
software to see the trace file. But after others got the file, those
guys cannot have a chance to make a precise tuning to adapter to
your network configurations. By the other words, others may not want
to change their settings of the software to just for you. So we need
a better way to cooperate together than just keep modifying software
settings.
BoneLight provides innovative way to
support complex usage. The software supports to customize the
application information into filename! So let’s say if there is a
captured packet trace file includes a custom application which using
http protocol over tcp port 5000. Instead of find a settings to
config it, we just need to rename the file and include
“[http=#5000]” in the filename. Then if you open the file with
BoneLight preview or export to an Excel sheet, the tcp 5000 traffic
is already translate into HTTP traffic.
Well, we can directly send the file to
others. Other people can open it with BoneLight without altering any
settings and he/she can see the same result as us.
More than the file settings, we can
easily export the traffic of desired protocol or host by drag-n-drop
operations. So the complicated traffic can be easily drill down into
simple, we can raise our efficiency by handling packets not that
much.

Converting Excel brings more flexibility
when dealing with complexity. Excel features like consolidate,
what-if analysis and data validation to have further mining.
Good luck and get BoneLight today to move
on!
