Customize Applications

BoneLight provides innovative way to support complex usage. The software supports to customize the application information into filename! So let’s say if there is a captured packet trace file includes a custom application which using http protocol over tcp port 5000. Instead of find a settings to config it, we just need to rename the file and include “[http=#5000]” in the filename. Then if you open the file with BoneLight preview or export to an Excel sheet, the tcp 5000 traffic is already translate into HTTP traffic.

so a filename include "[http=172.16.0.1#5000] " means to identify the port 5000 traffic from/to 172.16.0.1 as HTTP.  In this way, if you send the named trace file to others who have BoneLight either, he can directly see the content without adjust any settings in his software.
